Hello Everyone,
Thank you for visiting my website and I very much hope that you will enjoy reading my stories about the adventures of Doug and Bunny as much as I’m enjoying writing them.
I am extremely excited that I will be able to announce shortly the publishing of my very first children’s picture book, ‘A Tale of Two’, so watch this space – it won’t be long now!
Just to give you a little background information about myself…
I grew up in the countryside of Cambridgeshire, U.K., and after obtaining my P.G.C.E. at Cambridge University, spent thirteen years working across state and private schools as a primary school teacher in England, Abu Dhabi and, latterly, Dubai. Throughout my teaching days, which were predominantly educating 4-7 year olds, I have always loved the power of the picture book and I still do today.
Having shared hundreds of stories with children, it’s wonderful to see how they can not only captivate and encourage an early passion for reading, but also be used as a teaching tool to generate a wealth of learning across the curriculum.
Since taking a career break over the past couple of years, with the support of my husband, I decided to pursue my dream of writing my own series of books. My teaching experience has given me a superb insight into what stories are enjoyed by young children. Utilising this knowledge, as well as my understanding of early literacy development and the numerous life skills we address as children pass through our classrooms, ‘A Tale of Two’ was born.
The characters Doug and Bunny are inspired by my own desert rescue dogs which currently live with us in Dubai. When generating the story, the characters very much reflect the different temperaments of my dogs and how they behave. Although saying that, I assure you that Bunny doesn’t drink out of a tea cup or go to yoga classes! However, I’m sure if she were a human, she would!
I hope that you enjoy my book which introduces these two unique characters and I look forward to sharing with you more stories in the future.
